Amber Friel
SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Amber is a senior associate at Crosscut with a background in campaign planning, social media, and advocacy. She has a love for learning and communicating with others.

Prior to joining Crosscut, Amber worked as a communications assistant with the Carolina Center for Public Service, an on-campus hub for engaged scholarship and service at her alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this role, she curated digital and social media content and developed strategic campaigns for amplifying the center’s volunteer opportunities, service initiatives, and advocacy efforts. Amber also brings creative advertising experience from her time at a Myrtle Beach advertising and public relations firm where she contributed to campaign planning and content curation for a variety of local and regional businesses. Passionate about driving positive change, Amber has also served in public relations and social media capacities for the Fill Your Bucket List Foundation, an organization committed to fulfilling the wishes of financially disadvantaged cancer patients in the state of North Carolina, and the A+ Education Partnership, a non-profit aiming to improve public education across Alabama.

A life-long North Carolinian, Amber graduated with Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media with a B.S. in Advertising and Public Relations, and a minor in Social and Economic Justice.
